Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Naran & Kaghan
Glacial lakes and pine ridges three hours off the motorway.
When to go
Mid-May to October
Kaghan is the gentlest introduction to the Pakistani mountains: a single river, a single road, and a string of valleys that climb steadily from 2,000 to 4,000 metres. The crown is Lake Saif-ul-Malook, set under the snowfields of Malka Parbat.
We avoid the summer rush by going in late September, basing from a small lodge on the river and using a 4x4 for the upper reaches.
Signature experiences
- 01
Dawn boat on Saif-ul-Malook before the day crowd
- 02
Jeep ascent to Lulusar lake at 3,400 m
- 03
